The Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell (MLC) https://www.har.mrc.ac.uk/ is located in an expanding science and innovation campus in Oxfordshire and is an internationally renowned centre at the forefront of genetics research. Overall Purpose:
This role will assist with the daily operations required in the Mary Lyon Centre Training and Compliance team, ensuring that all administrative requests are dealt with promptly and effectively.
There are a variety of duties that make up this position, which will be based mostly in the central office, but with some time spent in the animal house. The Training and Compliance Team needs to be flexible, efficient and timely in supporting training requirements to the MLC staff within MRC Harwell.
Main Duties/Key Responsibilities:
- Proofread and format documents, e.g. standard operating procedures (SOPs) and risk assessments
- Document management, including version control and collecting signatures
- Assist with record keeping of SOP and training documents inside the animal house
- Filing and general record keeping
- Use of bespoke database systems for record keeping and licensing documents
- Raise POs and process orders and invoices within budgetary guidelines
- Assist with the logistics of organising training courses, meetings and events
Working Relationships:
The role requires communication with staff, and visitors at all levels, working in close liaison with the Training and Compliance Team and the Head of Scientific Operations.

Education/Qualifications/Training Required:
Essential:
- Educated to Level 2 standard or GCSEs at Grade C and above or relevant qualifications
- Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft packages

- Administrative experience
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and able to be multifunctional
- Experience of working well within a team
Desirable:
- Experience working within a science environment
- Experience working with Oracle
- Experience arranging events, training courses and/or meetings
