Overall purpose:
To assist in the carrying out of electrical repairs and installation work in accordance with the IEE Regulations and the Medical Research Council's specifications and Codes of Practice. To observe at all times the Health and Safety at Work Regulations in order to maintain a safe working environment and to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the Medical Research Council's Equal Opportunities Policy.
Main duties / key responsibilities:
- Assist in maintenance repairs and installation of electrical systems on the MRC estate at Harwell and any other duties which may from time to time reasonably be required within the general level of responsibility of the post
- Assist with repairs and maintenance on a full range of electrical systems, including fire alarms, door access, IT and communication systems etc.
- Assist with the installation of new and refurbished electrical systems using a full range of installation materials and techniques
- Assist with routine checking and testing of all types of electrical systems, including the location and repair of faults
- Procure materials, components and spares
- Member of the on call team
- Work in a safe, tidy responsible manner in accordance with MRC H&S
- First aider

Education / Qualifications / Training required:
Essential:
Recognised electrical qualification or final year of a recognised apprenticeship scheme.
UK Driving license
Desirable:
Part P domestic wiring
Some experience of building services or estates management
Previous work experience required:

Significant electrical experience.

Continued or completed 17th edition BS7671
Desirable:
18th Edition BS7671
